The University of Connecticut (UConn) is one of America’s top 20 public universities, according to U.S. News & World Report. It is home to more than 31,000 students, 1,300 faculty, 230,000 proud alumni, and a handsome husky named Jonathan.

The University has fourteen schools and colleges: Agriculture and Natural Resources, Business, Dental Medicine, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Law, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Social Work. Dr. Fein has worked on understanding and treating Autism Spectrum Disorders throughout her research and clinical careers. She has published on biological variables, cognitive development, treatment modalities, and co-authored the leading early screening instrument for autism. Recently she has investigated the spectrum of long-term outcomes, including losing the symptoms of autism.

Children with autism can have both a hard time complying with the requests of adults and peers, and with learning social behaviors that other kids pick up naturally. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy based on learning theory that attempts to address both of these issues, and has produced proven results. Dr. Deborah Fein of the University of Connecticut explains.
