Genny Beemyn was one of the country’s first out nonbinary college administrators and has been the director of UMass Amherst's Stonewall Center since 2006.

Beemyn also serves as the coordinator of Campus Pride’s Trans Policy Clearinghouse, which tracks college trans-inclusive policies and works with colleges to help them become more trans-supportive.

"If an institution is doing right by #LGBTQ+ students, it's going to be doing right by all people." Genny Beemyn, director of the UMass Amherst Stonewall Center, gives tips for finding a #queer-friendly college or university.

The Stonewall Center was one of the first LGBTQ+ support centers for students in higher ed. It remains a major force in LGBTQ+ student representation and advocacy across the U.S. Not only does it act as a critical social and educational support for students at UMass Amherst, but the center and Genny themselves contribute heavily to the Campus Pride Index, an online listing of colleges and universities that ranks them by inclusivity.
