Biography

Macary Marciniak, Pharm.D., is a clinical associate professor at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her focus is in community pharmacy practice, specifically immunizations, medication therapy management,... and self-care. She serves as the director of the PGY1 and PGY2 Community Pharmacy/Academia Residency Programs. Marciniak is an adviser for the Carolina Association of Pharmacy Students, a unified professional organization affiliated with the American Pharmacists Association, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists. She also serves as an adviser for Phi Delta Chi Professional Pharmacy Fraternity.

Before returning home to her alma mater, Marciniak was a community pharmacy faculty member at Albany College of Pharmacy in Albany, New York, for seven years. She is a board certified ambulatory care pharmacist, a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist and a fellow of the American Pharmacists Association. She has completed certificate-training programs in diabetes, immunizations, MTM, self-care and tobacco cessation. Marciniak is a national faculty trainer for the APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery certificate training program and has trained hundreds of pharmacists across the United States.

Marciniak is an active member of state and national professional organizations. She is currently a member-at-large on the NCAP Community Care Practice Forum Executive Committee and is a member of the NCAP Immunization Task Force. She is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, APhA, ASHP, Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International, Phi Delta Chi and Phi Lambda Sigma. Marciniak serves as an APhA media adviser and frequently responds to media requests related to health, wellness and medications. In 2011, she served as the expert pharmacist in a year-long series of episodes for WebMD’s “Ask the Pharmacist.” Macary has been honored with the Pharmacy Leadership and Education Institute Albert B. Prescott Leadership Award and the Pharmacists Mutual Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award.
