Biography
Micheal provides specialty support in all areas of taxation – corporate and personal. He also has extensive experience in financial and estate planning, as well as cross-border consulting.
Micheal joined the Welch LLP team in 1978 after graduating from the University of Ottawa, where he received his Bachelor of Administration degree. He went on to receive his CA designation in 1981 and his Certified Financial Planner designation thereafter. Micheal left the firm for a few years where he gained critical experience in the entrepreneur/owner-managed space. He returned to the Tax Group at Welch LLP in 1990 and was made a partner in 1993. In 2006 he took over the role of Ottawa office Managing Partner, a role he continues to fulfill. He is also the Chairman of the firm wide Executive Committee.
Micheal played an integral part in the development of the IT branch of Welch LLP and actively participates in Welch LLP sponsored athletic teams.
Micheal's community involvement includes being a Trustee and Treasurer of Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame and being an active member of the organizing committee for the Ronald McDonald House Ski-Fest. (An annual event that raises a significant portion of the operating funds for Ronald McDonald House in Ottawa).

Recipient - Telfer School of Management Trudeau Medal (professional)
In 2008, Michael received the University of Ottawa's Telfer School of Management Trudeau Medal. Established in 1989 in honour of Reverend Father Roland Trudeau, OMI and former director of the University's Commerce department from 1950 to 1965, the Trudeau Medal is the highest honour given by the Telfer School of Management to its alumni.
Trustee and Treasurer - Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame (personal)
The Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame Gallery is dedicated to featuring the outstanding sports men and women who have been inducted in the Hall. Visitors can view displays of artifacts, photographs and memorabilia honouring our rich sports heritage and learn about the Hall of Fame members who have brought pride to our city through their outstanding achievements.
Advisor - Dean's Advisory Board, Telfer School of Management (personal)
The Board is composed of leaders from the private and public sectors who mutually strive to strengthen the School and its programs. Established in 1989, the Board constitutes an important link between the School and the community, particularly the business world and the public sector. Its mandate is to advise the School with regard to its strategic choices and to provide information which will permit the evaluation of the relevance,quality and effectiveness of its current and new programs.
