Biography

For over 30 years, Dr. Janice Presser has been engaged in research and development of teaming science and team analytics, with a focus on developing more effective business and personal teams. She has studied how healthcare... teams service those in need, how families team with each other, and how organizations enable (or inhibit) human synergy in the workplace. All of these pursuits have had, at their core, the desire to understand what really happens between people during group activities. Her goal was to create a reliable way to structure and support coherent, productive teams, and to measure – qualitatively as well as quantitatively – their business, as well as personal value.

Dr. Presser is the architect of KnowMe™, the technology that measures how people interact and she has been called a thought leader in leadership, team management, and human infrastructure. She has authored eight books on various aspects of teaming, as well as dozens of articles, guest commentaries, and other writings. Dr. Presser writes and speaks on topics including innovation and entrepreneurship, leadership, teamwork, talent science, career development, inclusion, assessment, and team analytics, as well as those more personal in nature.

Dr. Presser has served on SHRM’s Human Capital Assessment/Metrics Special Expertise Panel, the Taskforce on Workforce Planning, and also the Taskforce on Metrics and Measurements. She is Contributing Editor for Selection in ELLA®, Employment Labor Law Audit. A systems scientist by training, Dr. Presser has filled various positions in diverse industries, including stints as the HR director of a sports memorabilia company and as president of a sheet metal manufacturing company. She is a frequent contributor to the digital world, and a member of Constellation Research’s Orbits group.

In addition to having served as adjunct faculty and dissertation consultant for several institutions, Dr. Presser has also been a forensic consultant and expert witness in cases involving civil rights, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, ethical professional practice, and related matters. She has served on numerous boards.

Dr. Presser holds a B.A. in Psychology from CCNY, B.S. in Nursing from Columbia University, M.A. in Psychology from Hunter College and Ph.D. from The Union Institute & University, where her dissertation was on Optimal, Growth-Promoting Relationships. Her post-doctoral training was at the Institute for Comprehensive Family Therapy.
